Year 4
This year, every class are named after a class champion. Throughout the year the children will learn about their class champion and deliver a special Collective Worship all about what makes them special. By the end of the year the aim is that all of our children know about 5 diverse and amazing champions who make a difference to our world.
Year 4 - Mrs Sommerville
Year Four’s class champion for 2024 -2025 is Barbara Hepworth
Dame Barbara Hepworth was born in 1903, in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. She died in 1975. She was a British artist most famous for her sculptures. Her sculptures are abstract. They usually have smooth shapes and curved lines.
She loved nature and was inspired by the shapes and lines that she saw in it, such as hills and pebbles from the beach. Many of Barbara's sculptures are outside in nature and in public places such as the Yorkshire sculpture park.
Her sculptures often have holes in them so that you can look at the nature on the other side through them. Barbara used wood, stone and bronze for her sculptures.
